Frequently Asked Questions

Is my child eligible to attend Camp Courant?

If you live in Hartford, CT and you child is between the ages of 5 - 12 years-old, then your child is eligible to attend Camp Courant.

Can I visit the campsite before I register my child?

Yes.  Camp Courant will be holding its annual clean-up day Thursday, June 10th.  If you would like to visit the site then, please call Beth at 241-3674 to make arrangements.

How much does Camp Courant Cost?

Camp courant is a free day camp for Hartford children.  There is no cost.

Do you provide food for the campers?

One of the many services Camp Courant offers its campers is two nutritious meals a day, and a healthy snack.

How will I know if my child can begin camp?

You will receive a Green Letter in the mail, stating the date your child may begin camp.  Please do not bring your child to a bus stop until you have received a Green Letter.  Children who have not received letters will not be on our registration list, and will not be allowed to board the bus.

How will I know which bus stop my child will be at?

Simple.   You select the bus stop on the registration form that is closest to you.

What time will my child be picked up from the bus stop, and what time will they be dropped off?

Children must be at their designated bus stop at 8:30 am to be picked up, and they are dropped off again between 3:30 and 4 pm (see the list of bus stops on the registration form).  A bus counselor is on every bus, supervising and taking attendance.  Children must get on the bus and off the bus at the same stop each day (your child is only on the registration list for the bus stop you chose and will not be allowed to board the bus at any other bus stop).  Parents may NOT drop their children off directly at camp.  These rules are for the safety of the children.

Does my child need to bring anything to camp?

Just a bathing suit & towel (if your child doesn't have a bathing suit, one will be provided).  Camp Courant is not responsible for personal belongings, and strongly suggests your child not bring anything valuable to camp.  We also suggest you write your child's name on everything they wear or bring to camp.
